England and Tottenham star Jermaine Jenas was born in Nottingham on the 18th February, 1983. Jermaine Jenas, unsurprisingly enjoyed sport at school, inparticularly football. The versatile midfielder attended The Becket School, which is a very good comprehensive situated in Nottingham. From an early age, Jermaine Jenas took a liking in football. Jermaine Jenas was asked to represent his country from a very early age, he was selected for the England u15 squad and ever since then Jermaine Jenas has been involved regularly in the England set up. To play for your country at the tender u15 age level shows great promise, however, if one was to become complacent at that point, no doubt a potential sparkling football career would come to a stop. However. Jermaine Jenas continued to work hard and impressed at a trial with Nottingham Forest and signed a professional contract there.
Jermaine Jenas made his Forest debut in the 2000-01 season. That season, he went on to compete twice professionally for Nottingham Forest, once in the FA Cup and once in the league. It was evident that Jermaine Jenas was a talented player, had skills in the right department and was determined to become a top player. He just needed that bit of luck to get a breakthrough. And, luckily enough for the midfielder, that breakthrough, that he so desperately needed, came in the 2001-02 season. Jermaine Jenas made 31 appearances that season for Forest, scoring a total of four goals. The talent was there, heavily showcased throughout the course of the season. Still in his teens, Newcastle made a £5 Million offer for the Forest starlet, it was accepted and he succesfully moved to Newcastle in February 2002.
This was another big breakthrough in young Jermaine Jenas’s career. A move to a highly regarded premiership club at a rather high price tag poured unnessercary pressure on Jermaine Jenas. However, he responded very well to this. He only had a few months before the end of the season, and his aim was to show some signs of promise. In the 12 appearances he made in the 2001-02 season for Newcastle, he showed the Newcastle faithful what a talent he was, but more importantly he showed his manager.
The next season, the energetic youngster played 41 games and in return gave in some gutsy performances including 7 goals. He was showing signs of being a great goal scoring midfielder with an engine on him, something that linked him with Paul Scholes. Jermaine Jenas was a regular at Newcastle UTD and in the 2003 season, he received a call up from England in Feburary to face Australlia, due to his stunning performances - crowning him the “Young Player of the Year” for the 2002-03 season. He made his debut and played well, and he was hopeful that he would become an England regular one day. In 2005, Tottenham Hotspur pounced for Jermaine Jenas on transfer deadline day and secured a deal worth £8 Million pounds for the player.
Jermaine Jenas’s move to Tottenham has proved very successful. He is a fans favorite at White Heart Lane, a regular and is defiantly one of Tottenham’s main components in their midfield. Recently, he signed a deal which will keep him at White Heart Lane un till 2013. In addition to being a success for Tottenham, he has found himself a regular in the England squad, something Jermaine Jenas is very proud of. Jermaine Jenas also has a daughter named Sancha and a wife named Sabrina. Jermaine Jenas finds himself in a long term family commitment, as well as a long term commitment to Tottenham Hotspur. Undoubtedly a great personality and a great footballer who has the potential to become world class to say the least.
