Jermaine Jenas played his first professional game for Nottingham Forest in 2001 and after one impressive season there, he was transferred to Newcastle United for a fee of £5 Million. Jermaine Jenas developed a lot as a player at Newcastle, even becoming a vice-captain at one point. Many people compared Jermaine Jenas to England star Steven Gerrard because of many similar attributes including his strong box to box play, his powerful shot at goal and the great understanding Jermaine Jenas holds for the game.
Jermaine Jenas’s latest club, Tottenham Hotspur, bought the English midfielder for a fee of around £7-9 Million pounds in 2005. He soon became a fans favorite for his conscientious personality and enthusiasm shown on the football field. In only 88 appearances for Tottenham, Jermaine Jenas has landed 17 goals and no doubt there will be more to come in forthcoming seasons.
The midfielder is rapidly increasing his England caps due to his fantastic form for Spurs, at the end of the 2007-08 season he had made a total of 9 caps for England. Since then though, he has went on to secure even more caps under his belt, and he proudly scored his first England goal in one of Capello’s first games in charge of England.
There is still so much to come from the 25 year old midfielder and although he recently signed a contract to stay at Tottenham untill 2013, a move to a “top four” club seems likely in the future for the talented Spurs player.
